This week I have to give credit to a zombie movie with a decent budget. I saw Dead Snow 2, Red vs. Dead at the Mile High Horror Film Festival a couple weeks ago and am incredibly glad I was able to see this one on the big screen. If it weren’t for them adding a midnight viewing, we would have missed it. Anyway, here’s what it’s about:
“If the worst day of your life consisted of accidentally killing your girlfriend with an axe, chain-sawing your own arm off, and watching in horror as your closest friends were devoured by a zombified Nazi battalion, you’d have to assume that things couldn’t get much worse. In Martin’s case, that was only the beginning.”
Dead Snow 2 jumps right in where it left off in the first movie and is a gore fest from start to finish! Not only that, I laughed my ass off while retracting in my seat at each bloody turn of events. I couldn’t ask for anything more than this movie delivered.
The characters are the best part of the movie … or was it the creative storyline? There are a whole bunch of new characters worth mentioning in movie 2: the Zombie Squad (I want one of their t-shirts), the commie zombie soldiers, Herzog the Nazi zombie captain, but Vegar Hoel as the hero, Martin, was exceptional in his green track suit–move over Bruce Campbell. And don’t get me started on the zombie sidekick (not pictured here because you gotta watch his character evolves).
Most of all, I like that the Dead Snow movies have zombies on a mission, and they’re not just out for a meal. I enjoyed every minute of Dead Snow 2 and I left the theater wanting to talk about every part of it. That would be unfair though, because you really need to watch this one without reading ANY spoilers.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Bloody Brains
